This Self-Rising TV Stand Is a Movie-Lover's Dream
This story was produced in partnership with Krylon , the nebulise paint brand that can easily restore, freshen up, recolor, and revive any project.
That old TV stand could use an upgrade. Simply that doesn't mean you take up to scrap it and discharge a chunk of change for a brand spic-and-span unrivaled. Every it takes is a few cans of Krylon® atomiser paint, some LEDs, and a simple motor to make that stand into something truly special.
That's scarce what builder St. Peter Kreider did — and the results speak for themselves. "The goal was to take an existing piece of piece of furniture and refinish it victimisation Krylon® products," Kreider says. "Spray paint it, alter the design, climb it, and add some flourish." Hither's how he did it.
Mistreat 1: Tabu With the Old and in With the Unprecedented
Old furniture doesn't make the perfect media center without some tinkering. "We took the existing cabinet," Kreider says, "and we torus it apart." Kreider knew his media eye would need any extra shelving, so He cut down and sanded down any additional pieces. Then helium sanded down pat all the parts so they'd look refinished.
Step 2: Spray Key the Guinea pig
Kreider grabbed individual cans of spray paint —Krylon® ColorMaster® Paint + Fuze– 25% More in Gloss Classic Grizzly and Krylon® Shimmer Metallic in Golden Play — and countersink to work.
"For the play effect we used Krylon® Shimmer Metallic to paint the feet and the Interior Department of the console spaces," says Kreider. "Same with the at heart of the Telecasting console. For the two pockets of the shelf and the upper areas, we sprayed the whole thing Polish Classic Gray."
Pace 3: Tot the TV — and the LEDs
An amusement center isn't complete without few LEDs to storm and delight. Kreider knew that in order to really hold his kid — and guests — he needed whatever pyrotechnics. "I cherished the Boob tube to rise out and the lights shape up. It's a communication moment," atomic number 2 says.
Helium built the case so that it essentially came in ternary pieces: a base cabinet, a Television set locker, so a runty extra ledge atomic number 2 ready-made himself. Sol he affixed the TV and set all three pieces together. Then he installed the LED lights.
When this papa got tired of his old TV set-up, he decided to make it large.

Step 4: Flirt with
With whatever inventiveness and some Krylon® spray paint, Kreider upturned his dusty old TV stand into an final entertainment system — one that will delight his kids, dinner guests, so many others.
"I think it is a much more contemporary look," helium says. "I cleaned it up and unified it, but the spray paint was key to refinishing information technology in a consistent, clean, and refreshed-looking way. The Gloss Standard Gray is a very modern look by comparison, and with that little moment of Metallic Shimmer as an idiom. It was well-nig taking something run-of-the-mine, plain, and non very interesting looking and creating something that is a centrepiece."
